Warm Mist Home Humidifier Assessment

February 28th, 2010

A home humidifier review is the simplest place to appear for information before getting an appliance for your home. You have the choice between a full house humidifier or a moveable unit for use within the bedroom. Unless you live in a very very dry climate, a single area humidifier ought to be sufficient.

A review of humidifiers is the most effective source of knowledge before you begin searching for a unit for your home. Most reviews are separated by sort of humidifier. The most common are cool mist or warm mist types. There are edges to every type. Scan about each before you shop.

Once you have got determined on the sort you would like, browse reviews of specific models. Reviews have a variety of sources from skilled reviews, to shopper reviews. There are even some slick advertisers that are able to disguise their advertising to seem sort of a review.

Consumer sources are great for data regarding how a explicit unit has worked for others. However, they typically don’t give a comparison to different products. A professional review should be unbiased and typically will provide comparisons between different models. Read from a selection of sources to provide you a sensible picture of a explicit model.

Cool Mist Home Humidifier

A cool-mist humidifiers uses cold water and vibration in creating the mist. As a result of these machines use solely cold water, they’re a great selection for the nursery or a younger kid’s bedroom. There is no risk of scalding with hot water, like there’s with heat mist humidifiers or a steam vaporizer.

As a result of the water is not heated, these machines have a larger risk of releasing bacteria and mildew spores into the air. The stagnant water inside the machine could be a perfect breeding ground for microorganisms. Correct cleaning and disinfecting the machine will facilitate stop this problem. Empty the water when each use. Clean out the machine and use a disinfectant cleaner regularly. Make sure to dry the tank completely. Add contemporary water before each use.

A warm air mist humidifier uses hot water to form steam in the room. As a result of the water is heated, there is less risk of bacteria and mildew spores within the air. Correct cleaning and maintenance of the machine can eliminate the risk altogether. This includes cleaning and disinfecting the machine regularly and changing filters as needed.

Heat mist machines are great for treating colds and congestion that are therefore common in the winter. Many enable you to feature liquid medications to the water to help relieve symptoms. Because they use hot water, they’re usually not the most effective choice to be used during a kid’s bedroom. There is forever the risk of burns if your kid pulls the unit down. This is significantly dangerous with infants or young children.

Split Air Conditioning Tips To Increase Their Longevity

February 25th, 2009

7 Tips To Increase The Longevity Of Your Split Air Conditioner

So you have bought a split air conditioner to beat the heat of this scorching summer? Now remember some tips to ensure that it performs superlatively throughout its life.

windowless air conditionerThe global warming has wrecked havoc on the earth as the temperature is rising and touching a new high every year. The people across the globe are suffering from the ill effects of global warming. Coupled with the scorching heat, the humidity has made life tougher than ever before. To save themselves from this unusual climatic condition, many people have fallen back on air conditioners a lot.

sharp portable air conditionerWhether you buy a split AC (air conditioner) or a window AC, the most important thing is to know whether they will perform smartly under tough circumstances. Since, we tend to overuse the air conditioners during the summer, we need to be prepared for their maintenance just incase they fail to perform up to the desired level. Take a look at some of the maintenance tips for split ACs that should be applied to boost the efficiency of your split air conditioner.

The smooth functioning of a product depends on its proper maintenance. So, if you have a product, then you need to take god care of it. In case of an AC whether domestic or commercial, the following points should be noted for better performance and durability of the product. The various components of it include:

1. Air conditioning filter is an important part of an AC. It should be changed every month or every two months regularly depending on its use. If not the air would be dirty and filled with pollutants. The dirty air conditioning filters also increases the air conditioning repair and maintenance cost.

2. Another important part is the compressor. It compresses low pressure, low volume gas making them the high pressure, high temperature and the gas needed for the AC. It also removes vapor from the evaporator to maintain a low boiling point. Make sure to clean the compressor regularly to get cool and refreshing air. Oil specially designed for the ACs can be used for its longevity.

3. When air passes through the system, the evaporator coil absorbs the heat to provide cold air through out the space. Replacing the old evaporator coil improves the air flow and air circulation inside the home.

4. Air conditioning maintenance also includes cleaning of air ducts or ducts. In the air conditioning system, air ducts are spread through out the entire house keeping the area cool and pleasant. Hence, the ductwork ought to be cleaned regularly to remove the dust collected on air ducts.

5. All air conditioning system use refrigerant to absorb the excess heat and supply cool air inside the house. Sometimes there might be a refrigerant leak. So, a reliable air conditioning company or contractor should be called to check and repair that part.

6. Sometimes there might be problem with the heating and split air conditioning of your air conditioner. You need to clean your air filters. If, still the problem continues, then it`s time to call an expert.

7. In some of the cases ice blocks the tube and no cold air comes from the air conditioning filter instead of the filters recently cleaned. It indicates that the air conditioning refrigerant is low and needs to be adjusted or replaced.

maytag portable air conditionerAlthough the running cost of both window and split AC is almost the same, the power consumption of a split AC could be little higher because of the additional motor it requires. Moreover, the capital expenditure of it is a bit higher than the window AC as well. A split air conditioner scores higher than a window air conditioner because of its `silence` feature. The compressor of a split air conditioner is kept away from the indoor unit and thus, ensures complete silence inside your room.

Central Air Installation – Ductless & Split System Air Conditioners

February 4th, 2009

Ductless Air Conditioners – Split System Air Conditioners

Here is some information about Ductless Split Air Conditioners that are being used in more and more homes.

When we bought the air conditioning system for our place, we were posed with many problems since it was not pre-decided and let me tell we live in an apartment so making some kind of structural changes was impossible. So then the obvious choice was Ductless Split-System Air conditioners. That is when I did all the research and reached the conclusion, which is something to this effect.

Ductless or split-system air-conditioners, often called mini split sir conditioners have innumerable potential uses in residential, commercial, and institutional buildings. The most frequently used applications are in those houses or buildings where more than one family lives or as retrofit add-ons to those homes which have ductless heating systems as well, such as hydronic or hot water heating systems, radiant panels, and space heaters that used wood, kerosene, propane. They can also be a wise choice for rooms that are just like add-ons and were thus unplanned and small apartments, where extending or installing distribution ductwork, suddenly for a central air-conditioner or heating systems is not practicable at all since these structures are planned and do not allow much work once the construction is done.

Differences in the workings of Central Air Conditioning and Ductless Split-System Air Conditioning

In case of a central air conditioner the furnace’s blower is used to draw the air in the room into the unit through return-air ductwork and a filter that helps to get rid of the dust, hair and lint. The air inside the room moves past a chilled indoor coil that is the evaporator so that the heat is released. The cold air moves on to the enclosure, which is usually a large metal box at the top of the furnace, where it is transferred to the air supply ductwork and then the air is returned to the rooms.Split air conditioners, like central air conditioners have two main basic parts which are an outdoor compressor or condenser, and an indoor air-handling unit. A passage, which connects the outdoor and indoor units, also consists of the power cable, the refrigerant tubing, suction tube, and a condensate drain.

Advantages and Disadvantages of a Split Air Conditioner

The primary advantages of the split air conditioners are as follows:

  • They are small in size and flexibility in regards to where it can be placed or which room it should heat or cool.
  • Most of the models have as many as four indoor air-handling units, precisely for the four zones or rooms connected to one outdoor unit.
  • The number of units depends on the degree of heating or cooling that is required for the building or zone, which is again dependant on the insulation of building.
  • Since every zone would have it’s own thermostat, the only need is to condition the place when somebody is there. This actually saves some energy and money.
  • Ductless split air conditioning systems are also often easier to install than any other kind of conditioning systems.
  • The added advantage is that most manufacturers who make such air conditioning system do provide a variety of lengths of linking passages so that it is possible to cool rooms on the forepart of a house with the compressor in a more advantageous or inconspicuous position that is on the outside of the building.
  • The main disadvantage of Split Air Conditioner is their excessive cost. It is like 30% more than the Central Air Conditioning.
  • The appearance of the indoor part of the system is also a disadvantage. They do not have the built-in look of Central Air Conditioning Systems.
  • There also has to be a place to drain the condensate water next to the outdoor unit.
  • It is very difficult to find skilled installers and the size also has to be right otherwise there is wastage of energy and leads to inefficient work. The humidity and temperature control also fails to work.

Though there are various disadvantages of a ductless air conditioners but given the “minimum space and maximum utility” theory, they seem to be the ultimate solution for people now.

Air Conditioner Comparison: A Primer

Having an air-conditioned home is like having an oasis on a sweltering summer day but it is also a costly comfort. Before you choose an energy efficient cooling system, you should perform the air conditioner comparison in order to ensure you purchase the best system. Doing comparison shopping is a necessity when you’re in the market for air conditioning.

A cool, well air-conditioned home is a good retreat from hot summer days, but it is an expensive one. Before you select an energy efficient A/C system for your home you can do an air conditioner comparison to make sure you get a good one. This air conditioner comparison is important for anyone who is looking for a new air conditioner.

While few things feel nicer than the sensation of stepping into a nice, cool home from a sizzling summer day, air conditioning can be an expensive luxury. Just as there are considerations that can perk up your car’s efficiency, there are ways of improving your air conditioning system’s energy efficiency as well. Do an air conditioner comparison before buying one.

There are certain things to be considered before selecting an air conditioner. Room air conditioners are the first type. Room air conditioners do room cooling rather than whole house, so while they may be less efficient in terms of energy loss, they are cheaper to function than extensive central air systems. Those living in smaller homes and apartments can be quite relaxed with simple room air conditioners, but those living in larger homes will naturally need something more substantial.

The process of central air conditioning passes cool air through ductwork. There are two kinds of systems, split and packaged. Split system units come with the condenser and compressor housed inside a metal casing which is installed outside while the inside cabinet houses the evaporator.

If the home already has a furnace, but doesn’t have an air conditioner, this system will be the most economical because there will usually be a furnace or indoor part of the heat pump in an indoor cabinet. The evaporator, compressor, and condenser of a packaged central air conditioner are all located in the same cabinet. In order to eliminate the need for a separate furnace, some will even contain a natural gas furnace or an electric heating coil.

As you might believe, larger air conditioners use more energy than smaller ones, so selecting a system that is sized suitably for your home will keep your energy costs in check. Before deciding how large your air conditioner should be, try to assess some things like how large a home do you have and how many windows does the home have?

Are your windows, walls and ceiling nicely insulated? How much shade covers up your home and how much heat do your appliances generate? Clearly evaluating your energy needs will help you make an informed decision at purchase time. Home AC units are also very good.
